Overture performs all long-running operations in the background, so you can browse and interact with your network while tasks are running. You can run several tasks at the same time; Overture contains sophisticated locking mechanisms to ensure that tasks are queued if they try to access the same resource simultaneously.

The status bar is used to report information about the currently running tasks. It incorporates a progress bar, a pause button, a stop button and a status message. The progress bar and the status message detail the state of the currently running task. The function of the pause and stop buttons are described below:

  • The Pause button (The pause button) can be used to temporarily halt all running tasks. This can be useful if you need to free up resources on your computer. Paused tasks can be resumed by clicking the Play button (The play button).
  • The Stop button (The stop button) permanently halts all tasks. Overture first attempts to stop tasks gracefully; if this does not succeed you will be given the option to force all tasks to stop.
