Overture comes with the Start Page, a user-interface accelerator that groups
commonly-used tasks and settings. It replicates many of the functions found in the
menu and the button bar.
Using the Start Page
You can navigate between pages by using the forward and back buttons at the top.
You can also jump back to any previous page by using the breadcrumb control.
The start page makes use of the selector to choose between the various options
that are available in a particular section:
The pull down allows you to choose one of the possible option. The buttons on the
right provide the following options:
-
Get the properties of the selected item. The properties are displayed in a
properties window.
-
Add a new item to the list. If you select this option, you will be shown the possible
item types that you can add.
-
Remove the currently selected item.
The buttons below the selector present any actions that are associated with the
selected item. In the screenshot above, you can see the Export action.
The Start Page is broken down into several sections. These are detailed below:
Start Page Sections
Network
From here you can access the network data importers and exporters that are attached
to your project. You can also set up various technology-specific options.
Environment
From here you can specify the data sources for subscribers (residential population,
business locations, postcodes and so forth), terrain and clutter.
Analysis
From here you can set up and edit the analysis region, prediction models, statistics
and adjust the rules that are used to check the integrity of your network.
Maps
From here you can set up and edit the map layers that are available to show on the
map. You can also export all active maps as bitmaps for use in presentations. Exported
maps are written out with geographic referencing information for Google Earth and
MapInfo.
Measurements
From here you can import and work with drive test or other measurement data sources,
for visualization or for prediction tuning.
Optimization
From here you can configure the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that are used
to drive functions in the
Site Planner
and
Parameter Optimization
modules.
The tutorial section gives a step-by-step guide to the main network planning functions
available in Overture.
About process pages
The Start Page is an example of a custom process page. Overture is uniquely
designed to make the addition of custom process pages and
modules
very simple.
We have produced process pages to automate routine tasks, to ensure that best practice
guidelines are followed and to help support specific projects. If you'd like to
know more about how you can add your own process pages or modules to Overture, please
