This tutorial shows you how to visualize the signal from a single sector using a
Sector Signal provider.
The quickest way to do this is by adding a Power Map. From the
Start Page
select :
Then press the Add button:
This will give a list of different map types to add. Select "Power Map" from the
list:
Once the new power map is added, its properties are shown. Expand the
Data Source property and press Edit List:
This opens the Power collection editor. Now you can add a Sector Signal provider
by clicking on the Add button:
The new Sector Signal provider has a property called
Selected Connection. This represents a
Connection
which is the link between a
Radio
and a
Sector.
Select the appropriate connection for the sector you wish to visualize.
Once the appropriate selection has been made, click OK
to accept the new provider. This will return you to the properties for the power
map itself. Pressing the Show On Map button
will make the map visible and move the map pane to show the complete dataset...
The coloring key be formatted by changing the map properties. Press the
Help button (next to the Show on Map
button) for more information.
Remarks
For sectors using Presto prediction models you may notice that the radio signal
is not aligned with a raster grid. In fact Overture calculates and stores sector
signals in a radial form, which makes the storage overhead smaller and preserves
accuracy. Interpolation is done on-the-fly along the radials and between radials.
